banquise [bãkiz] is a (yet another) package manager.

banquise is a central management tool for package distribution .
It allows you to manage which packages are allowed or not on a specific server.

The purpose of banquise is that most of the job is done on the client and the (web) server is used only to allow or not the installation/upgrade of a package. banquise is written in Python (and uses Django for the web part) by default it supports MySQL but can be very easily configured to connect to any other db supported by Django.
banquise is GPLv3.

more info on the wiki : http://www.banquise.be/projects/banquise/wiki

For the moment, banquise supports rpm via native yum and deb (rpm too) via smart.

The project is split in two sub-projects :
  • banquise-server
  • banquise-client

If you hack banquise, please send me patches or git remote access to merge your code to the master git.
